This article provides an overview of the security strategies of the United States that are relevant to an analysis of the legal and policy issues surrounding efforts to prevent or disrupt the illicit transport of weapons of mass destruction by sea. They include the National Security Strategy of the United States, National Strategy to Combat Weapons of Mass Destruction, National Strategy for Combating Terrorism, National Strategy for Maritime Security, National Strategy for Homeland Security and the Maritime Strategy for Homeland Security and Defense.
