Amey Pyati (O. P. Jindal Global University – Jindal Global Law School) has posted India's Nuclear Question: Resolving Superpower Aspirations with International Law Constraints on SSRN. Here is the abstract:
The coming of the 21st century has seen the old bipolar world order between the United States and Erstwhile Soviet Union give way to a Unipolar order dominated by the United States, whose time as a world leader too seems to be limited with the rise of China. India aspires to join these countries as a third superpower in an ideally multipolar world order. Central to this aspiration is India’s developing status and recognition both as a responsible Nuclear Weapons State and pioneer in the widespread use of Nuclear Energy for peaceful purposes. Through this paper, I seek to understand the role of international law in both enabling and constraining India’s rise as a potential Nuclear Superpower.
