On June 22, 2018, the United States Supreme Court handed down its much-anticipated Fourth Amendment ruling in Carpenter v. United States. In the wake of Carpenter, Professor Kerr authored three extensive blog posts on the decision that appeared at both Lawfare and The Volokh Conspiracy. This paper presents the three posts together in the order that they appeared. The first post explores the basic reasoning of the opinion, the second post discusses Carpenter’s impact on the law of subpoenas, and the third post considers the timing of Carpenter searches.
