Venzke on Semantic Authority & International Law

Ingo Venzke (University of Amsterdam – Amsterdam Center for International Law) has posted Semantic Authority, Legal Change and the Dynamics of International Law (12 No Foundations (2015) 1-21) on SSRN. Here is the abstract:

The article develops the concept of semantic authority to understand the dynamic development of international law. It adds dynamism to the otherwise rather static picture of international lawmaking because it is attuned to thinking of international law as a communicative and creative practice in which actors struggle for the law and thus shape the law.
